Area Police
Around 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered many other smeared automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials report early analysis indicate the substance was probably blood from a person.
"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; officials are not yet cognizant of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they commented.
City officials announced they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the public for information.
A high-ranking representative said the vandalism left him stunned and had to be solved promptly.
"This incident affects the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, referring to the killing of nine victims by a shooter aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
